Keskitalo Highland Cattle from Putkivaara village, Ranua delivers organic highland cattle meat and quality products straight from the breeder.
Putkivaara is a small old village situated on top of a hill in southern Lapland. It has a beautiful scenery; old preserved pre-war buildings, meadows and forests complimented by a breathtaking view over the Simojärvi lake.
Our animals live outside in the pasture all year around, and with their thick fur designed to survive the harsh conditions of Scottish highlands, they also thrive well in our cold, northern climate. In fact, they often choose to spend their time outside in the snow instead of in the shelters. In the summers, our cattle grazes old meadows and forests, which helps to preserve the habitats of native meadow plants and historic scenery.
We do not use grains or concentrated feed, instead the cattle is fed with organic hay and pasture grass. The grass is mostly clover, fertilized with organic certified fertilizer and composted cattle manure. No pesticides are used. The process from pasture to products is carried out by our local collaborators located in Finnish Lapland. The meat content of the products is 100% highland cattle; we do not use any other type of meat in our products.
We do not have designated opening times; instead, we’d prefer for you to contact us beforehand to ensure that we’re at home ready to tend to you. We also deliver meat to Ranua, Rovaniemi, Posio ja Kuusamo. The products are mostly frozen, so we recommend for you to take a cooler bag with you.
